Beauty of Horror, new finished pages

Beauty of horror coloring book werewolf

Today two more completed pages from the Beauty of Horror coloring book: werewolf and beheaded guys. For the werewolf I used watercolor and pencils. Have to say that the book's paper is of very good quality, if not to use too much water it can stand watercolor all right, with just a little buckling.

The werewolf is not the most terrifying illustration in the book. I really enjoyed working on it. Can't say same thing about the next image....those cut off heads were not that much pleasure to color in. I have no idea how cut off heads supposed to look (thanks God) and this is my version...Anyway, one should not take such illustrations seriously

I used soft pastels for the background here and all the rest is colored with Derwent Inktense pencils.

Mandalas and patterns, mixed media colored pages

Mandalas colored with highlighters

Today a bunch of colored pages from the Relaxed and Focused Coloring book. I work on this book in the evenings, while sitting in front of TV. No much thinking, no much worrying - just indeed relaxed coloring. The first image is done completely with highlighters.

The Beauty of Horror coloring: Medusa Gorgon

The Beauty of Horror coloring book, Medusa Gorgon

I have started coloring a new book, the famous The Beauty of Horror by Alan Robert. Since I have seen a flip through of this book on YouTube I wanted it. I am not a big fan of horror genre, be it movies, literature or animation. But couldn't help but fall in love with the illustrations in this book. They are beautifully scary and frightfully beautiful. And this is the first image from the book that I colored.

The Beauty of Horror coloring book

The face of this lady, presumably Medusa Gorgon, is quite disgusting and all those snakes...yuck... but still I enjoyed coloring the illustration. What I used: Derwent Artist 72 colored pencils and Derwent Pastel pencils for the background. I know background is supposed to be colored firstly but it just doesn't work with me, background is the last thing that I color in.
Well, I hope you liked my Medusa Gorgon
Till the next time
